Rochelle Kelava

Background

After burning out from a fast-paced career in my early 20s, I spent the next decade learning about self-compassion, self-acceptance, and holistic wellbeing. Along the way I gathered resources and practices that helped me to find ease in a mind and body that’s not always so easy to be with. I am passionate about sharing these tools with others and creating spaces for open and honest conversations around mental health and wellbeing.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in law and social justice, mental health non-profits, and as a yoga and meditation teacher. Everything I’ve done has been rooted in a passion for supporting individuals who are choosing to work towards healing and growth in their everyday lives. From my own experiences in life, I know how difficult it can be to reach out for help, and the profound difference taking that first step can make.

In my personal life, I love nothing more than unplugging and heading to the beach. The ocean is my happy place and I’ve recently fulfilled a lifelong dream of learning to scuba dive! When I can’t make it to the water, I find joy in painting, pasta, and long afternoon naps. In a busy world, I savour the moments when I can step back, rest, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
